Oh boy, late call on this one! I need answers PDQ for October’s reader question, which is:
What’s your biggest fear in skydiving, BASE jumping or paragliding (or your air sport of choice)?
Responses will be printed in the October issue of Blue Skies Mag, signed with the name you comment as. You can email answers to me as well, to lara@blueskiesmag.com. Be sure to state that it’s okay for us to print, and sign as you want your name printed in the mag.
total malefunction when opening ….
You mean ‘malfunction’ like a normal canopy mal, and not injuring delicate male body parts on opening, right? Just checking, I don’t want to misquote you :)
See with a total malfunction on a reserve following a cutaway I would just die pretty quick and painless. What I fear is a reserve main entanglement with one or both canopies partially open. Then I may not die right away and have wait around trying to catch my breath while my arms and legs are bent in directions they shouldn’t be. Does NOT sound fun.
Airplane crash
Watching a friend die again.
I’m totally afraid that some day I’m going to wake up like Dorothy and the people standing over me are saying, “You a skydiver? Wow. That was some dream. You really did get konked on the head!” Alas, none of the last 20+ years was real.

Cause somekind of accidend due to forgetting something basic… like, pin check due to a rush…
My biggest fear in skydiving is going up to altitude with the airplane and then the door opens, think it is scary as hell.
Love it as soon as im out of the plane :)
Walking into the prop or seeing someone else do it or watching someone go in. Both scare the hell out of me.
Canopy collision down low. So much going on in the landing pattern, much of it unpredictable. Most people not looking around much.
