USPA is looking for a new Communications Director to replace Shonda Smith, who has held the post for the past several years. The position as posted on the USPA website:
Director of Communications
The U.S. Parachute Association is searching for an individual to lead the communications department. Managing a department of three people, the position provides direction to and oversight of Parachutist magazine, the website, social media, e-newsletters, printed items and the USPA Store. Additionally, the director of communications serves as creative counsel for the executive director and assists in program development. The position also provides budgetary projections and recommendations.
The applicant should have fresh ideas and previous experience managing a professional staff. A passion for skydiving is essential. Applicants should be energetic and motivated self-starters who thrive on teamwork and never miss a deadline. The person must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, strong writing and editing skills, in-depth experience with social media and four years experience handling multiple projects on tight deadlines. The applicant should be comfortable in both Mac and PC environments and with using Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity with design software (Adobe CS5) and website programs (Drupal and DotNetNuke) is a plus.
The full-time position is located at USPA in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Benefits include life and health (with vision and dental) insurance, paid leave and 401K eligibility. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
