What Happens in Mexico…

Submitted by Michael Cook of Negative 4 Productions

Last May, GoWorld Project (GWP), along with GWP athlete Rob Pelon, orchestrated a trip down to sunny Mexico for a 3-day skydiving, interviewing, and filming extravaganza. The goal: create a short documentary-style series about Rob’s journey as a wingsuit pilot and BASE jumper. And, what better place to capture Rob in his element and tell his story than in Mexico, where anything goes? The upcoming series will be released on YouTube in July/August.

Rob and GWP drove across the border, with some friends, from Arizona, USA, into Mexico to a small town on the Sea of Cortez. There, they drove up the beach and waited for the ultralights to arrive beachfront. It doesn’t get any better than that, right? Beachfront service, Corona’s & piña coladas, “Hotel California” on the speakers, and skydiving… It was pure rock-n-roll!

Eventually, in the background, there it was, a low-level buzzing that was getting closer and a closer. Soon they could see the ultralights flying in from the horizon. For those of you who don’t know, ultralights are hang-gliders attached to a go-cart-esque frame with a propeller on back. They can take off and land the same as a plane.

The next three days were a blast. Rob and his friends jumped out of ultralights non-stop, flying up to an altitude of 2,000 feet, then bailing out of the side of the craft. From there they had about a 10 second free-fall over the gorgeous blue Sea of Cortez. Then, after deploying a parachute, they landed right at the beachfront bar with crowds of gringo tourists cheering them on. GoWorld Project just released the following teaser to hype the upcoming YouTube series. Be sure to subscribe to the GoWorld Project YouTube channel–Negative4 Productions–to automatically receive the series in your feed later this year. It’s going to be awesome! And remember, what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico.

When you are the World Champion of Canopy Piloting, it goes without saying that you are a bit of a bad-ass under canopy, right?  Check out this video of Curt Bartholomew from Team Alter Ego demonstrating a laid back afternoon by the pool at a nice resort, tropical style.

Then watch it again, and pay special attention to the slow motion stuff from Curt’s view-point….  dang!
