We all know how difficult it can be to get good help – and we all know that skydivers may not always be the most reliable workers around. It’s a combination of that constant ADD, getting distracted by shiny things and prominent gypsy nature so many skydivers seem to have in spades.
But some are dependable, solid workers – and remain employed at the same dropzone for years, doing a fantastic job. Some even become managers or DZO’s eventually. But we all know that some examples of lazy, opportunistic, sloppy SOB’s that you don’t really want working for you.

The number one biggest problem we face as a magazine publisher is physically delivering the damn things to you. Postal services around the world are…less than reliable. Or competent, in some cases. We present Exhibit A:

Mis-sent to where now?

Evidently Vietnam and New Caledonia (yes, we have a New Caledonian subscriber) are easily confused by postal services.

So, if you’ve ever experienced the glorious postal system in your country, please share your tales of woe with us. And don’t hesitate to contact us if you don’t get your magazine on time, it’s ripped, or your postman thinks you should really be living in Vietnam. We’ll put up a post here every month to announce what’s new in this issue – if you don’t get that issue after 2 weeks, let us know and we’ll do our best to track it down.

It can’t be all skydiving, all the time so were are going to change it up a little bit today with a cool video from race car driver Gunnar Jeanette.
Gunnar also happens to be a somewhat bad ass skydiver, Wingsuiter, BASE jumper and all that jazz. And a stout subscriber to Blue Skies Magazine, just like you should be.

So hop in, fasten the zillion-point-seatbelt, suction cup that trusty old Nintendo racing wheel to your desk and try to follow Gunnar through the twists and turns of the Sebring International Raceway. And try not to crash.
Gunnar narrates about half of the video and it’s pretty cool to listen to the turn-by-turn instructions. The rest feels just like a good old arcade game, so everyone should be able to play along.

We have it. Bad. With the sun staying up a little bit longer every day, the temperatures climbing and the unnatural curse of daylight savings time about to come to an end, we can feel the gypsy blood in our veins starting to boil. It’s time to broaden horizons by visiting new dropzones, meet up with old friends and maybe make some new ones. It’s time for fun jumps, geting a little silly, drink cheap beer and swap stories around the bonfire.

With how much skydivers like to travel, it’s no accident that we devote a couple of pages in the magazine every month exclusively to featuring events and places to jump. But we need help from the Blue Skies Mag community here, to pick the right ones to attend. Which ones can we not miss out on? Which ones suck? Are there any new ones that we should know about?
How about records, fundraisers, community support or any of that fun stuff?
Well, we want it all. Those of you involved in planning for your respective DZ’s, make sure to sign us up for your newsletter and list your events (for free) in the Events section of our website. If you don’t have a newsletter, fine – just drop us a line – but make sure you give us at least 8 weeks notice if at all possible.

For those of you just burning to write an article about your boogie experience –

keep in mind that we accept those, as long as you can find a unique, fun and interesting way of presenting it. If you have an cool idea, by all means read this and then chat with the editor!
