As Chicagoland Skydiving Center makes its transition from it’s longtime home in Hinckley Illinois over to Rochelle, It’s become terribly obvious to many of us jumpers that this real work crap is tough!

The amount of construction going in to the Rochelle’s Kortz field is staggering. With Bull dozers and construction workers everywhere, there’s no doubt that CSC will be around for some time to come. The road, parking lot, trailer spaces and groundwork for the new hangar are underway, yet bookings and jumping haven’t slowed down one bit.

When Mother Nature decides to cut us, and the rest of the country a little bit of slack, there’s no doubt that they’ll be a shit load of jumping going on!

You are hereby cordially invited not only by “The Fuckin’ Pilot”, but all the rest of the CSC family to come out and play, as we all fully intend to play as hard as possible thru our “growing pains”!

Skydive Carolina had their annual awards party Saturday night, and made this tribute video for their home teams. Enjoy!

Vector Festival is coming to Skydive Empuriabrava in a few short days; one big highlight will be the film festival, with a €1000 prize for first place. Yowza. For the Yanks, that’s about $1,200. Yeah, yowza.

TreeGirl handled a scary situation like a pro, going up for a second jump later that day. For that kind of spunk, bravery and badassedness, we had to give her a complimentary subscription to Blue Skies Mag. She also got 50% off a Mirage rig from a slightly inebriated Ward Hessig (pictures on the far left) later that night. (Helpful boogie tip: if you want any Mirage shwag, give Ward liquor.)

We got back from CarolinaFest the other day, and while Kolla probably won’t remember watching this (damn you and your mind erasing powers, Rodriguez Brothers!), Tommy Levitt’s entry into the video contest was awe-freaking-some. My personal favorite bit starts at 2:35

The Royal British Legion Extreme Human Flight Team, Jump4Heroes, had a little encounter – entirely amicable – with the German Police last weekend.

Team members were training at the Joint Service Parachute Centre in Bad Lippspringe, Germany, in preparation for the forthcoming Canopy Piloting National Championships and the subsequent World Championships. After a long day flying their Competition Velocities across the impressive swoop pond, they decided to break out their new Poppy-branded Vampire 3 wingsuits for a quick jump.

From 16,000 feet up, Major Alastair Macartney and Warrant Officer Class One Spencer Hogg, with Corporal Stuart Storey flying on camera, flew out over the ranges of Sennelager training area.  They were carving around the cloud formations, creating an amazing show for those watching below, really putting the new suits through their paces on their maiden voyage.

After swooping down to a safe landing on their Competition Velocities, they gathered up their gear and headed inside to pack up their kit. As they did so, two German police cars screeched on to the scene to apprehend the Jump4Heroes daredevils.

It turned out that the people in the local town had never before seen high speed wingsuit flying in this style. Unsure of what it was and how to react, they had reported the “UFOs” to the local police.

It all ended amicably with the team members showing the police their equipment and demonstrating the flight modes.

They invited the police to come up on a jump but their offer was politely declined, strangely…
