Threading the needle – Alexander Polli and the unbelievable wingsuit cave flight

The more I watch this video, the more I can’t believe my own eyes.

Wingsuiting sure has come a long way in a short time – from a bunch of geeks huddled over their Dytters and data loggers to these blow-your-mind stunts we see pop up on YouTube with almost alarming regularity.

Alexander Polli recently zipped up his blue and white TonySuit and proceeded to fly it through a tiny little hole in a rock wall – the Bat Cave, going something like 150+ miles per hour. I’m still a bit speechless, so just go ahead and watch the video to see for yourself. Hot damn.

Want Douggs to throw you off a bridge?

16062_10152300151005375_1512495834_nHere is your chance. The man, the legend, Chris ‘Douggs’ McDougall will be hosting a BASE jumping course at the Perrine Bridge, Twin Falls, ID.
And that is in the US of A.

The aim is to get in 40 jumps per person.
Applicants must have over 200 skydives, have their own rig (2 rigs is preferred) and have read and studied The Great Book of BASE. Douggs notes that if you are a professional athlete in another adventure sport, the 200 jump rule may be adjusted – but only for very qualified people.

Only 2 slots are left. If you are 100% committed, contact Douggs by sending a message via his Facebook page. No wishy-washers allowed.

Want to jump a building in Kuwait?

When BASE jumper (and awesome Blue Skies Mag contributor) Chris “Douggs” Mcdougall gets a question like that, the answer can only be “yeah, no worries mate”.  In that sexy Australian accent, of course.

The guy went on to note that Douggs was explicitly qualified for the job on two accounts:

- one of the top base jumpers in the world
- not dead

So off he went and opened Kuwait (BASE lingo for first jump, we presume it carries the same beer penalties) with a successful jump off the Al Hamra tower.  Nicely done, Douggs! Watch.
