These are the real people that make Blue Skies Mag rad. These fine souls donate words and photos every damned month, all for you. In no particular order, here they are:

Melanie Curtis

Melanie Curtis aka Tizzle 2.0Mel is a professional life coach and skydiving coach. She writes a monthly column with tips on how to manage stress, life, love, relationships, 4-way teams, and more. It is awesome, lovely, and hilarious just like her!

Kurt Gaebel

If you skydive today, Kurt Gaebel has probably impacted your life. Founder of the National Skydiving League (NSL), Kurt has brought 4-way into more people’s minds than probably anyone. Thank him when you meet him, then give him coffee.

Dean “Princess” Ricci

Princess

If you’re easily offended, just stop now. If you like straight talk and gut-busting laughter with your Cheerios then Princess, aka The Fuckin’ Pilot, is your guy. Skydiving pilot (4,500 hours of flight time, including 4,300 flying jumpers), tandem instructor (8,000+ jumps), man whore (stats unknown) and more, there’s no subject Dean doesn’t have an opinion or story for.

Sydney Owen Williams

Sydney

I have an A-License in corn landings, thank you.

Sydney wrote the column “The Beginning of the End of My Flourishing Career.” Her first installation was printed in our 19th issue, and was attributed to Amanda Owens, a very wonderful woman in her own right…but not Sydney. Forgiving her stupid, sleep-deprived editor, Sydney’s continued to let us tag along on her DZ journeys with humor, optimism, wit and loveliness. For a raw take on Sydney’s life as it is-unpredictable, frightening and wildly exciting-check out Sydney: Unfiltered. She’s now interviewing her heroes in “Tales of the Badass.”

Cynthia Lynn Guzman

Cynthia has done what no whuffo has done before and gained the trust of the BASE world. She goes deep inside to bring us interviews with the superstars of BASE previously thought unreachable except by Swiss cable car. As she says, “Everyone has a story to tell…some people use more exclamation marks than others.”

Chris “Douggs” McDougall

Douggs, Blue Skies Mag contributor

Hey that’s me!

Frankly I’m a little surprised someone as cool as Douggs even speaks to us but there he is, on the pages of Blue Skies Mag! One of the most widely respected, balls-out, living-the-dream BASE jumpers in the world, Douggs has guided readers through living life like a scumbag, and been referenced in nearly every BASE article we’ve printed.

Brian Buckland

Bucky dropped a great paying job, comfy crib and nice car for a few years to travel and photograph the world. Living the dream, yup. Settled in Colorado now, he still gets out to events to take those sick photos you see in Parachutist and of course, Blue Skies Mag.

Justin Carmody

(aka Robert J. Carmody)
Justin has the camera men want to be behind and the eye women want to be seen with. The evil genius behind our 1-year anniversary photo shoot, and many of the more creative, ooooooh photos you see in our mag.

Norman Kent

Not sure this man needs any introduction, but if you don’t know, Norman is one of skydiving’s most prolific, revered, and accomplished photographers.

Harry Parker

Harry Parker

Selling Permanent Smiles Since 1964! TheHarryParker.com

As just a little newbie, Harry fell out of a Beech-18 and landed into the swamps of the Florida Everglades. He was befriended by a pack of wild CReW Dogs, wrapped up in an old CRW Unit Parachute, and raised on 100 LowLead, altitude, and healthy doses of adrenaline. The Dogs taught him how to fend for himself in the wild of the Blue Yonder using nothing but a camera, a stack of tall tales, and a pull-up cord.

Harry is a long time skydiving photographer, blogger, coach, instructor and event coordinator.

In Addition, Harry supports the Skydiving Industry with:

  • Event Photography documentation
  • Social Media Strategies for community growth and staff productivity
  • Internet marketing for sales and traffic
  • Leadership Training for maximum asset leverage

Harry’s courses teach DZ owners how to leverage all the free and “sleeping assets” they have in place now and help them build new ones for a solid online marketing platform that outperforms the competition. Courses concentrate on Leadership, Marketing and social engagement for business.
