In Vienna, Austria, the 65th IPC meeting is on. Bids for hosting the next World Meet have been presented and it’s a time of excitement and anticipation in the old city.
Rook Nelson of Skydive Chicago is one of many attending. His purpose there is to present a bid on behalf of Skydive Chicago to host a World Meet. It has been a long while since one has been held on U.S. soil. As an avid competitor, Rook says it has been a personal goal to host a World Meet ever since he competed at his first one, 15 years ago:
“The US hasn’t hosted one since 1994 and it’s time that we step up to the plate and put on an event the skydiving community can be proud of. I will travel to Vienna at the end of January to ‘bid’ the event. Please share this photo showing your support for not only Skydive Chicago but to bring the event to the United States.”
Winning bid for the next World Meet is to be announced on Saturday.
