Skydive DeLand stays single – for now

Locals in DeLand have eagerly awaited to hear from the City Commission regarding their vote on whether another dropzone would be allowed to open it’s doors on the DeLand Municipal Airport.

The News-Journal reports that the DeLand City Commission voted unanimously to postpone making a decision on whether to grant Joe Richards permits to set up shop on the DeLand Airport, essentially across the field from Skydive DeLand.
Darren Elkind, the city attorney, recommended approval but the city commissioners will wait on studies being conducted by both the city’s airport consultant and the FAA.

Barring delays, we should see the next installment in this saga in roughly 5 weeks from now.
