Veterans Day

It’s that time again – where our Facebook feeds shift from “I just ate a burrito” or “going to the DZ, suckas!” to people tripping all over themselves in order to thank a US Veteran for their service for their country. Whether you are of the opinion that using military forces to protect freedom is the way to go or not, today is an excellent day to reflect on the sacrifices so many men and women have made through their service in the military, up to and including giving their lives.

This includes people from all walks of life, including many of our fellow jumpers. Wingsuit flyer Douglas Spotted Eagle did a jump yesterday at Skydive Elsinore, after discovering that another fellow jumper and friend had been killed in action. The jump honored skydivers Jordan Byrd and Jordan Emeric – but at the same time all veterans and Native men and women serving in the US armed forces. Below is a video from the jump, shot by cameraman Niklas Daniel and expertly edited by Douglas Spotted Eagle.

Click here if you would like to read a little bit more about this particular jump on Douglas’s blog, and thanks to Niklas Daniel for submitting both the video and photos.
